As mentioned previously in the website the Tuareg wore many layers of loose-fitting cotton clothes because bare skin burns in the hot desert sun. What these layers of cloth do is to keep sweat close to the body, which makes sweat evaporate more slowly, conserving moisture and to keep the body cooler. The men wear loose-fitting shirts and pants under large indigo robes. Women wore two wrappers, long pieces of cloth worn like skirts around their waists. They often wear two blouses. Over this they wore large indigo head cloths or veils. The veil which men wore on their faces has many different meanings. First of all it is a symbol of male identity, another way the veil is symbolic is that it shields the wearer from evil spirits and is also just considered as an adornment, which can be worn in different styles. After they have been married Tuareg women wear a head scarf, which covers their hair. The wealthier people amongst the Tuareg group can afford to wear fashionable European styles, compared to the other members of the Tuareg group. This is basically all the Tuareg people had worn and was considered as an ingenious idea, having veils to bring sweat close to the body, making it slower during evaporation, thus keeping the Tuareg nice and cooled. The Tuareg have simply been creative by thinking about various issues that could affect them in a major way.
