As you can see the Tuareg group's main means of transport were camels as they were common in the desert and their fur was used to make the canvas and mats for their tents, providing them at least decent accommodation. They can also be employed for transporting goods. A really good thing about camels is that they have a reserve of 135 litres of water and 50 kilograms of food before travelling across the whole desert for a week, Their second set of eyelashes shields them from sandstorms and really any small sand/dust particles from entering their eyes. It's wool was also employed for clothing for the Tuareg and its leather is used for sandals, bags, saddles and belts. Traditionally it is men who are in charge of herding any animals like camels and goats. Sometimes to attain they would have to spend their animals at a local oasis. These animals are indeed very helpful, especially in terms of stamina and milk production. The women had to milk the animals to gradually create butter as food. As you can see the men and women had clearly defined roles. They were very skilled with these animals, they were practically companions.
