The Tuareg group of people have interacted with the environment on a constant basis as they are a nomadic group which are mainly situated in the Sahara Desert. As part of their trading the Tuareg people interact with some settled communities. Historically speaking, the Tuareg were considered as fearsome raiders who would attack trading caravans traveling through the desert.Through their fierce ways and their own trading caravans, the Tuareg controlled the trade routes travelling from north to south in the Sahara. When the French colonised North Africa during the early twentieth century, the Tuareg were defeated and now have settled into a life of herding and trading salt. They herd animals like camels, goats and sheep. They have however faced some violent sandstorms and have adapted to all those extremely harsh conditions. They have changed a bit of the environment by setting up some small camps.
